New Virtual Console games, Europe – Friday, October 5

So, it’s Friday again and time for new VC games to download on the Wii. Europe got 5 new games, inculding the first ever NeoGeo games on Virtual Console.

Fatal Fury
NeoGeo – 1991 by D4 Enterprise – fighting – 1-2 players – 900 points – age 12+

Released in 1991, this fighting game features three playable characters: Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard and Joe Higashi, each with their own unique special moves. As your chosen fighter, you will face off against a variety of foes on your way to defeat the South Town crime boss, Geese Howard.

The action takes place across a foreground plane and a background plane, which you can move freely between to dodge attacks. Fight against a friend or work togehter in the two-player mode. These now-famous features make up one of the most uniwue systems in fighting game history.

Golden Axe III
Mega Drive – 1993 by Sega – action – 1-2 players – 800 points – age 12+

The once-peaceful kingdom so familiar to fans of the original Golden Axe is under threat onve again, as the Prince of Darkness has stolen the invaluable Golden Axe, taken over the kingdom and rendered all its warriors harmless thanks to an evil curse. One warrior, however, breaks free from the curse and must defeat the Prince and regain the Golden Axe to save the kingdom.

In this one- or two-player action game, play as a giant, a panther, or a sword-wielding human and fight uor way to victory!

Landsalker – Treasures of King Nole
Mega Drive – 1993 by Sega – action/RPG – 1 player – 800 points – age 7+

After hearing of the legendary treasure of King Nole, the evlish treasure-hunter Nigel undertakes a quest to gather various pieces of the famed loot. As, Nigel, your journey will take you through villages, caes and dungeons where King Nole’s riches are held. Along the way, you’ll have to help the inhabitants of the island while fighting against the treachery of Duke Mercator, who is also searching for the treasure.

Use all of your wits and skills to overcome a variety of obstacles and outwit craftly foes on your quest to defeat Duke Mercator and uncover the secret of King Noles’s treasure.

Street of Rage 3

Just when you thought the world was safe from the Syndicate and its shady leader, Mr. X, they have returned to torment the city once again. Mr. X has developed life-like robots to take the place of various city officials so he can be in complete control, and it’s up to our old heroes Axel, Skate and Blaze to stop the thret with their amazing fighting skills.

With more weapons and combat moves, as well as secret characters and various endings, this return to the Streets is one you won’t want to miss.

Super Thunder Blade
Mega Drive – 1990 by Sega – action – 1 player – 800 points – age 3+

In this follow-up to Thunder Blade, you’ll fly a new and improved attack helicopter in a series of attacks against guerilla armies that are bent on taking over the world. Although your aircraft is formidable, your enemies are vast and varied – you’ll have to take on submarines, tanks, fighter planes, and more.

Your command of this state-of-the-art battle copter must be top-notch, as you’ll have to dodge oncoming fire and use your various weapons to eliminate all enemy targets so you can reach the guerilla base and end their nefarious plans once and for all. Put on your fight suit and step into the thrilling action of Super Thunder Blade!

It was the most powerful and desirable home console of its day, and now the NeoGeo becomes the newest member of the Virtual Console family!

Following its launch in 1990, SNK’s advanced system brought arcade-style action into the home, and many of its games went on to become highly collectable.
