3D Dot Game Heroes – IGN review

3D Dot Game Heroes look like a real cool games and one that I will buy when it’s released in Europe in May. It’s very Zelda-like and it’s in ’8-bit’ retro 3D. The visual style appeals to me.

You can read the IGN.com review of 3D Dot Game Heroes for Playstation 3 or watch their videoreview bellow.

3D Dot Game Heroes Walkthrough

The 3D Dot Game Heroes for Playstation 3 coming this May, looks real cool. It’s like Zelda in dot matrix, very retro, very 8-bit, but still new and fresh.

I really like the style of this game, and think it will have a great apeal on the older audience of videogaming, the gamers that had their youth in the 80′s and though that there never could anything better than 8-bit.

Bellow is a trailer from the European PlayStation blog and a walkthrough from the US PlayStation blog.

Playstation 3 – firmware updeate v3.21

On Thursday April 1st, the PlayStation 3 will be updated to firmware v3.21. But to call this an update, is a bit wrong since it actually removes a feature.

If you have a non-slim version of the PS3, this update removes the Install Other OS feature. This is not the most used feature on the PS3, but I still think it is wrong to remove a feature. If you don’t update, you miss the following featerues:

  • Ability to sign in to PlayStation Network and use network features that require signing in to PlayStation Network, such as online features of PS3 games and chat.
  • Playback of PS3 software titles or Blu-ray Disc videos that require PS3 system software version 3.21 or later.
  • Playback of copyright-protected videos that are stored on a media server (when DTCP-IP is enabled under Settings).
  • Use of new features and improvements that are available on PS3 system software 3.21 or later.

If you currently use the “Other OS” feature and you wish to update to system software 3.21, make sure you back-up any data stored within the hard drive partition used by the “Other OS,” as they will not be able to access that data following the update.

Removing this feature have upsetted a lot of gamers. The post on the European PlayStation blog have only 950 comments, while the US blog have 3600 comments (at the time of writting).

Playstation Blog: ModNation Racers Creation Walkthrough Video

ModNation Racers was demoed on E3 earlier this year. It’s a racing game where you can create your own racing tracks. It looks great. Lucky gamers in US could participate in a beta program that startet just before Christmas, while gamers in Europe have to wait until the start of 2010.

In the first video under you can see Rob Oliveira going through character creation, while Mat Thomas shows you a racing walkthrough.
