tales_of_monkey_island_talk_like_a_pirate

September 19th is the International Talk Like a Pirate Day. And as it happens to be your lucky day. Telltalegames.com is giving away a free copy of chapter 1 of Tales of Monkey Island for PC. Download the game now, since it’s only free until midnight on September 19 PST (check this link for you local time around the world).

About chapter 1Launch of the Screaming Narwhal:

The saga begins with a heated battle involving the brave but often bumbling Mighty Pirate™ Guybrush, his beloved wife Elaine, and their nemesis, the demon pirate LeChuck. When the showdown goes up in flames, Guybrush finds himself marooned on a strange island with winds that always blow inward. How will our hero manage to escape this meteorological anomaly? What has become of LeChuck and Elaine? And what’s the story with the infectious voodoo pox that’s spreading across the Caribbean, causing Guybrush and other pirates to act like unruly hooligans? These are just some of the many questions posed in this first chapter of one of the most rollicking and rip-roaring entertainment experiences this summer.

Juushinden: Ultimate Beast Battlers only US$ 9.90

Juushinden: Ultimate Beast Battlers (Nintendo DS)

This weekly special at Play-Asia.com is Juushinden: Ultimate Beast Battlers for Nintendo DS at only US$ 9.90. It looks like the game only will work on a DS and not a DSi, since it have a swiping-device pluged into the GBA-slot. The game is in Japanese too, so that limits it even further. The offer ends on August 4th, 2009.

Here is the description of the game taken from Play-Asia.com:

Think battle card games are over in this digital age? Think again.

Beast Battlers, the ultimate card action game is here. Slip the magic reader into the Nintendo DS and have it turn your 2D beast into breathing monster in your console. You don’t have to take the beasts as they are, upgrade their power and other attributes through a power-up card. The bigger the deck you have, the better an edge you have over your opponents.

Each package comes with a pack of 40 cards and a battlefield card. Be sure to get to know other beast battlers to play in different battle fields and keep an eye out on booster packs for the better beast warriors.

Please bear in mind however, that the game does not work on Nintendo DSi as there was no slot on the new console for the magic reader.

Here is the Japanese trailer for the game.

Play-Asia.com Weekly Special: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts only US$11.90 (Xbox 360 Japanese version)

playasia_banjokazooie

This Weekly Special at Play-Asia.com is a steal. You can get Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for only US$11.90. The bad thing is that the game will only work on a Japanese Xbox 360. But if you do have it, get the game, it’s great.

Here is the game description taken from Play-Asia.com:

Famed game developer Rare Ltd. is reviving one of its most beloved and successful franchises exclusively on Xbox 360® with the third installment of the Banjo-Kazooie series. Banjo-Kazooie®: Nuts & Bolts® embraces new and old fans alike, as the famous bear and bird duo return in stunning high definition for an unique adventure of epic proportions. The Lord of the Games (aka LOG) is tired of the petty squabbling between Banjo and the evil witch Gruntilda (aka Grunty) over the years, and has arranged a showdown to decide the rightful owner of Spiral Mountain. Claiming to have created every video game ever made, LOG has built the game worlds in which the contest’s challenges take place. Banjo must complete LOG’s challenges to win, while Grunty tries to stop him using every method her devious mind can muster.

Throughout your adventure, create your own abilities by building vehicles for Banjo to pilot over land, water, and air. Vehicle parts, which range from simple devices such as engines and wheels to more unusual equipment such as springs and egg guns, are earned and collected throughout the game. Use your imagination to combine parts in any order to create whatever vehicle you choose. LOG’s challenges have one goal, but your choice of vehicle and tactics will determine how you get there. By exploring worlds and solving puzzles, you will be rewarded with more advanced and diverse vehicle parts in your quest to defeat Grunty once and for all.

With the power of Xbox 360® and Xbox LIVE®, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts brings an entirely new experience to the console and takes the franchise to a whole new level of enjoyment. High-definition graphics, user-created content, and online gameplay are just three of the many advances people of all ages and skill levels will discover as they embark on their adventure.
