Wii: Virtual Console – Europe – Friday February 6, 2009

There are two new Virtual Console games to download on Wii in Europe this week, Friday February 6, 2009.

Clay Fighter
Mega Drive – 1994 by Interplay – fighting – 1-2 players – 800 points – age 12+

In this zany 2D fighter, it’s just another average day for a humble traveling circus troupe – until a meteor crash lands in their camp! This other-worldly orb, made entirely out of interstellar clay, contaminates all o the circus employees, turning  them into bizarrely superpowered versions of themselves!

Choose from among the uniwue clay creatures such as Bonker, the cheerfully manic clown, or Blue Suede Goo, once a mild-mannered Elvis impersonator but now a violent vocalist. Master their “Clayalitilies” such as operatic Helga’s deadly high note and Bad Mr. Frosty’s fists of snowball fury!

Sonic Chaos
Sega Master System – 1993 by Sega – action/platformer – 1 player – 500 points – age 7+

Play as Sonic or tails in Sonic Chaos – the first 8-bit title to feature his loyal sidekick Tails as a playable character!

Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik) has stolen the Red Chaos Emerald to create nuclear weapons. This has thrown the remaining Chaos Emeralds off balance, causing them to transport to a parallel universe. As a result, South Island – the heroic hedgehog’s home – is sinking into the water!

Speed thorugh various levels in your mission for the six Chaos Emeralds. Whizz and zoom around as Sonic or take the skies as Tails, to restore order in Sonic Chaos!

Wii: Virtual Consolse – Europe – Friday January 23th, 2009

Two new Virtual games in Europe this week, Friday January 23th, 2009.

Mario Golf
Nintendo 64 – 1999 by Nintendo – sports/golf – 1-4 players – 1000 points – age 3+

Tee off with Mario and friends as they put a new spin on golf! Choose from 14 different characters, each with their own power and swing styles. You can even taunt opponents to break their concentration!

Mario Golf is packed with features, including 10 different modes (such as Tournament, Speed Golf and even Mini-Golf), and six different courses to play thorugh by earning Experience Points to progress.

With easy-to-learn gameplay and a four-player competitive mode, anyone can get into the swing of Mario Golf!

Wonder Boy in Monster Land
Master System – 1988  by Sega – action/adventure – 1 player – 500 pointss – age 3+

After the evil King was defeated, the kingdom of Wonder Land was a paradise… for a time. Then the peace was broken when a ferocious, fire-breathing dragon struck without warning and look over Wonder Land with swarm of evil, monstrous henchmen – turning the once peaceful land into one of utter chaos. Wonder Land became Monster Land.

Unable to fight, the people looked to Wonder Boy. Realising that he was Wonder Land’s last hope, Wonder Boy set out on an incredible journey to rid the kingdom of the monsters and to ultimately defeat “invincible” evil dragon.

Guide Wonder Boy through various enviroments and dungeons and deaf enemies, using special weapons and spells to save the kingdom of Wonder Land!

There was two new Virtual Console games to download on our European Wii, Friday January 10, 2008.

Donkey Kong 3
NES – 1987 by Nnintendo – arcade – 1-2 players – 500 points – age3+

Unique to the classic series, Donkey Kong 3 is frantic action game starring newcomer Stanley, whose gerenhouse has been invaded by the troublesome ape and swarms of angrey insects.

Armed with a spray can, you must push Donkey Kong up the screen while fending off the swarms  of bugs intent on stealing Stanley’s precious flower!

Avoid the coconuts that DK throws at you, and try to grab the power spary can a few seconds of supercharged spraying as you aim for a high score!

Enduro Racer
Master System – 1987 by Sega – racing – 1 players – 500 points – age 3+

Based on the popular Sega arcade game and redesinged for the Sega Master System, Enduro Racer  takes you on an intense journey of adrenaline through diverse and rough terrain that will test your skills and reaction times to the limits!

Ride as fast as you can to pass cars and bikes while avoiding obstacles and pitfalls. Take jumps off ramps and try yo keep your speed up, but make sure to keep an eye on your bike’s damage so you are able to finish the race! Are you ready for the challenge!

Secret of Mana
Super Nintendo – 1994 by Square Enix – RPG – 1-3 players – 800 points – age 7+

Join the epic battle as good and evil crash to decide the fate of the world!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Play the popular sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog, made specifically for the Sega Master System, which saw the cameo debutof Miles “Tails” Prower, Sonic’s high-flying sidekick!

Sonic returns home to his island just in time to see Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik) run off with Tails! In fact, Dr. Eggman has kidnapped all of Sonic’s animal friends, and playced them in robotic mind-controlling suits. In robotic exchange for their safe return, he demand that Sonic fetch him the six Chaos Emerals that are hidden oon the island!

Explore underground mine shaft, dash through underwater tunnels, and hang glide through the clods in Sonic’s search for the Chaos Emeralds! Then, once Sonic has found them all, he must face off with Dr. Eggman and once again thwart the evil scientist’s plans for global domination!

This week, Friday December 12, there was three new Virtual Console games to download for us in Europe.

Boogerman – A Pick and Flick Adventure
Mega Drive – 1994 by Interplay – action – 1 player – 800 points – age 7+

In this top pick from the Sega Mega Drive collection, you play as Boogerman, the heroic alter ego of Snotty Ragsdale! While investigating Professpr Stinkbaum’s lab, Boogerman stumbles upon a strange machine that opens a portal to Dimension X Crement. Boggerman has a nose for adventure, but has he met his match this sticky situation?

Journey through dangerous worlds such as the Flatulent Swamps and the Mucous Mountains, while battling wicked enemies like Fly Boy and deoder Ant. Deal them a blow with Boogerman’s super abilities: pick and flick boogers with deadly precision, blech and pass gas with panache, and deal a deadly blow with his signature butt stump!

Impossible Mission II
Commodore 64 – 1988 by Commodore Gaming – action/adventure - 1 player – 500 points – age 7+

Operation Cobra Blue: a top secret surveillance and counterterrorist operation directed against Professor Elvin Atombender by Field Operations agent “Bravo 29″. Elvin, a known psychotic genius, is one of the world’s leading experts on robotics, compters and codes. He lives at the top of an immense eight-tower complex. So far, his complex has proven to be nearly impossible to enter by agents of any police or intelligence agency.

Intelligence reports inidicate that Elvin has spent the past four years trying to electronically break into military computer installations around the owrld, and he may be close to succeeding. In addaition, it is believed thatElvin is becoming increasingly mentally unstable. He has been monitored muttering threats about destroying himself and the world.

Your task: stop Elvin and to prevent him from destroying the world. You have 8 hours to complete your mission. Good luck, Agent.

Last Ninja 3
Commodore 64 – 1991 by Commodore Gaming – action/adventure - 1 player – 500 points – age 12+

In the previous instalment, the Last Ninja Armakuni was dragged across time and space to modern day New York to fight the Evil Shogun Kunitoki, the man who whiped out his clan. This was supposed to be their last battl… but yet again, the Shogun slipped away.

Armakuni began to build a new Ninja brotherhood. But once again the spiritual Ninjitsu masters are calling on Armakuni for another dangerous mission. This time they take him back in time to Tibet, whose temples contain the spiritual guidance and strenght that provide the foundation for all of the learning of the ninja brotherhood. Without these spiritual guides, they would be no more. Kunitoki has seized upon this opportunity to go back and destroy theknowledge he could never have, and bring an early end to the enemy he could never defeat.

Never has Armakuni’s task been more important… Never would the unacceptable result of failure be more damaging… And so, as you stand in Tibet as Armakuni, the Last Ninja, remember: the entire fate of the Ninja, past and present, is in your hands!

Wii: Virtual Console – Europe – Friday November 28, 2008

The last couple of weeks I haven’t posted new games on the Wii Shop Channel. Been a bit lazy typing this in. But this week I’ll do it. Europe got three new Virtual Console games to play on Wii this week.

Forgotten World
Mega Drive – 1989 by Capcom – action – 1-2 players – 800 points – age 7+

Forgotten Worlds is a side-scrolling shooter, one of the first to incorporate 360 degree aiming and shootingm a revolutionary feature at the time. And no need to go to the arcade to play – this Sega Maga Drive version brings the game right into your home!

It is the 29th century. Years ago, without warning, warships broke thorugh the sky, carrying fiendish aliens. They rained down fire, bombs, missiles and napalm, making the planet barren and inhospitable. Humanity was enslaed and Earth became known as the Forgotten World. In a hidden place, agroup of brave humans raised two children in secret as warriors, training them for battle. The two warriors emerged as armed machines of incredible power- the Nameless Ones.

Take your place as the powerful Namless Ones and fight the hateful invaders! Collect Zennay to upgrade your weapons and satellite, and free the planet that was once called “Earth”.

Metal Slug 2
NeoGeo – 1998 by D4 Enterprise – action – 1-2 players – 900 points – age 12+

The second instalment of SNK’s wildly popular Metal Slug series! This game is a side-scroller which puts you in the boots  of Marco, tarma, Eri and Fio. Your mission: wiping out General Morden’s newly remobiliesd rebellion Army.

Just like in the original, players blast theur way through keveks by shiiting and jumping – but Metal Slug 2 boasts an expanded arsenal for you to wield, including a heavy machine gun, a shotgun and even a laser gun! Not only that, but transformation effects are packed in as well – players turn into mummies after getting caught in psison gas coughed up by other mummies! Your characters can also become obese and slow, albeit with an attack strenght upgrade, after picking up too many food items.

The popular two-player co-op mode returns from the first game, so grab a friend and have a blast!

The tutorial is also available in Portuguese, Spanish and Japansese.

Wii: Virtual Console – Europe – Friday October 31, 2008

Nintendo released three Virtual Console games in Europe on Friday October 31, 2008. They call i Halloween Special.

Castlevania III – Dracula’s Curse
NES – 1992 – Konami – action/platformer – 1 player – 500 points – age 7+

Fight back against Dracula in the third exciting instalment of the highly popular Castlevania franchise! As with the original ‘Castlevania’, the player’s goal is to work their way through deviously challenging levels, but this time there’s difference – when the level ends, you can choose one of two paths to take for a completely different experience!

The most innovative feature of this game lies with the spirit companions that the player will meet through the journey. Besides the main character Trevor, who uses the traditional Belmont weapon, the Mystic Whip, as well as a number of items, the player can also strike up a spiritual partnership with any one of three distincitve characters. These include Sypha the imprisoned sorceress, Grant the pirate, who is able to jump high and climb up walls, and Alucard, who is Dracula’s son but has a bone to pick his father.

With a range of diverse characters and paths available to choose from, this game boast incredible replay value, ensuring that each playthrough is a new experience!

Devil World
NES – 1987 – Nintendo – action – 500 points – 1-2 players – age 7+

In this little-known action game from Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, you play heroic dragon Tamagon, who must defeat evil by collectiong Boa-Boa Dots inside a maze and destroing enemies with his fire breath.

However, keep an eye on the devil at the top of the screen, who instructs his minions to move the maze in random directions, trying to squash Tamagon within its wall.

If this seems familiar, you might have seen the devil performing the same tricj as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

Ghosts’n Goblins
NES – 1989 -  Capcom – action/platformer – 1-2 players – 500 points – age 7+

Ghosts’n Goblins was a popular arcade game before it made the leap to the NES in 1986. Like later games in the series that followed, Ghosts’n Goblins presents quite a challenge to players brave enough to take on the role of the Knight Arthur and delve into the realm of demons and monsters to rescue the kidnapped princess.

Choose your weapons wisely and take advantage of their strenghts to deal with the situation at hand. Pass through the six gates that stand between you and Astaroth and teach him a lesson in chivalry he’ll never forget.

Demostrating a high level of technical prowess for a game of that era, Ghosts’n Goblins presents a unique and unforgettable universe. The stage for adventure is set. Are you up to the test?
